2017 Publication Schedule: The Second Half

Earlier this year, I released my first science fiction novel, Banquet. And last year, I published several others. So what’s in store for the rest of the year?

Hint: One is something readers have been waiting for more than a year to get their hands on; the other is something I never thought I would continue.

Progress Report: January – June 2017

As far as tracking my progress is concerned, I’m not great at it.

I don’t always log my words. I go months at a time of writing fiction, blog posts, etc. without admitting to myself that I need to keep track of my output, because I’m kind of stubborn and a little bit lazy.

So this progress report is going to be a mixed bag.

It’s like if Luke Skywalker was a girl…

My newest, Banquet, is finally out!

If you want me to be honest, I’ve been saying it’s like…

If Luke Skywalker had been born a girl and grown up with emotionally distant parents, joined a roving band of space pirates, been betrayed by her leader, then defected, tried to kill him, and was sent to a prison planet to serve out a life sentence.

Only she didn’t make it, because the prison transport crashed, and now she’s on a planet with an equally terrible leader, but this one is running a deadly competition for his own benefit and enjoyment.

And it’s #72 on the Amazon LGBT Science Fiction store right now. Continue reading “It’s like if Luke Skywalker was a girl…”

Really? You’re writing Sci-Fi now?!

pink llama, "Whatever, I do what I want."

Why Sci-Fi?

Last NaNoWriMo, I took on two challenges. I challenged myself to finish a manuscript in November, and my writing group challenged each other to write a book set in space.

What came out of that glorious duality was my first science fiction book, Banquet (Lesbians in Space, #1).

This is the cover I used while I was writing the first draft. Very NaNo-chic, yes?

I didn’t technically win NaNoWriMo with just this book, because it came in at about 40,000 words, but I consider it a smashing success. I was so excited about the book (and the genre departure!) that, beginning in January, I put on my editing hat and went hard.

What’s the frequency, Kenneth?

I edited it once. I edited it twice. It’s gone through a few beta readers now, and I’ve edited it again. (I’m still looking for more beta readers who can read the book and get feedback to me by early-to-mid-March. Email me at therealadanramie@gmail.com if you want to take a stab at it!)

And it’ll go through another set of edits once I get the feedback from all the people who currently are or will soon be reading the book.

When can I get my hands on the book?

It’s almost done, and I’m confident it will be ready in time for the April 24th release date. That’s right. You can pre-order this bad boy right now by clicking the red box below.

And, in addition to beta readers, I’m also looking for people read the ARC in the coming months and leave advanced reviews. If a lesbian space opera seems right up your alley and you love reviewing books all over the internets, shoot me a line and I’ll see about getting you a MOBI or EPUB file.

I have to make a change for the better.

‘Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.’ – Lao Tzu

Things around here are changing… again.

It seems like I do this at least once a quarter. Blame my artistic temperament; I have always been a shifty little chameleon.

Things on the blog from now until the next metamorphosis will be a little different. I will be posting a once-monthly update, sales, occasional free fiction, and the book reviews I already have queued up.

Why?

I need the time I spend blogging and handling social media to be writing, editing, and reading. I need to brainstorm and pitch. I want to explore guest posting and critique groups. And I just don’t have the time with everything going on in my life. Unfortunately, frequent blogging is one of the things I have chosen to let go of in favor of these new things.

As always, thanks for understanding, glorious readers.
