The last thing a lonely woman wants is hired help… right? [Book Review]

Frequent readers of lesbian-centered fiction will likely already have heard of Harper Bliss. She’s somewhat of a legend in the lesfic world, and is one of those authors so prolific it makes you wonder how they have time to sleep, eat, or go about their day-to-day lives.

That being said, this is one of the first Harper Bliss stories I’ve ever read. I know, right? Where have I been – under a rock? I can definitely say now that I can’t believe I waited so long to start.

Book Description

Olivia’s girlfriend walked out on her months ago and she’s desperate for some action. Her best friend recommends some hired help.
Warning: This title contains graphic language and f/f sex.

My Rating

If you weren’t clued in by the description, this is a short story centered around one woman’s pursuit of sexual satisfaction. But, after reading it, I found there was more to it than a simple erotic romp. There is a depth of feeling to Olivia that you don’t normally find in sexy stories, and it was quite refreshing.

This story is based on an age-old theme: Girl meets girl. Girl says she isn’t into long, drawn-out relationships, and girl says that’s fine. Girl leaves and girl is distraught. Girl waits for her lover to return, but she never does. Girl needs some action. Girl hires a prostitute.

…That is an age-old theme, isn’t it?

Either way, the two women in the story share more than just sex. They have an intimate connection that surpasses their business relationship. The prostitute isn’t just there for a wham-bam-thank you ma’am; she really seems to enjoy what she’s doing, and that makes it all the more enjoyable for her customer.

This story is short, sexy, but doesn’t skimp on characterization. I give it five of five stars and recommend it to anyone who loves F/F erotica with more personality than your typical porno lit.
