How I Collect and Use Information

Legal stuff is necessary, because we all want to cover ourselves, don’t we?

The TL;DR Version

Chances are, you know what information I have about you. You fill out the sign-up forms, and you fill out your profile on WordPress, so you know what info you’re sharing. I won’t EVER use your information for spam purposes, and I won’t EVER sell your information. Period. That’s not cool, and I’m not into it.

The Long Version

I collect the following types of information about you:

Information you provide me directly:

I ask for your username, email address, and/or real name when you follow my blog, get email updates, or join any of my groups. This information is strictly for my records in the case that I need to prove who signed each user up, when, and by what method. I also collect answers to polls; emails; messages sent through the contact page; and comments on this site so that I can better understand you, the reader, to give you more of what you want and less of what you don’t.

Information I may receive from third parties:

I may receive information about you from third parties. For example, if you access my website through a third-party connection or log-in, for example, through Facebook Connect, by “following” or “liking,” that third party may pass certain information about your use of its service to my website host. I won’t use this information, because even if I did know how, I’m not a great big jerk.

Honestly, I don’t even know if my site uses cookies. If it does, I’m not going to use them against you. They’re just plain old cookies like any other site.

In the event of a change of control:

This won’t happen, but if it does, you’ll be notified ahead of time so that you can make decisions about whether you want to stay in the system or not. But, honestly, this isn’t something that will probably ever happen.

Storing and keeping your information safe:

I do everything in my power to keep your (and my) information safe. If something happens and your information is breached, I’ll notify you as soon as I find out, and beg your forgiveness.
